Last year we were able to spend two weeks in what I think is one of the most relaxing vacation spots (at least of where I've traveled so far)! Playa del Carmen is a 35 miles south of Cancun, in the heart of Mexico's Mayan Riviera.
This was actually our third trip to Playa, so we were pretty familiar with all the logistics of traveling there. My husband is a wonderful planner and did his research, so we were able to rent a condo (using HomeAway), just off of 5th Avenue, which is the main street, and has all the cute shops and restaurants. It was also only a couple of blocks to the beach, which made it convenient walking down there with our beach bags.
The first week we were there, we took a couple of days to get into vacation mode and then we just enjoyed lounging at the beach, eating, reading and really relaxing! One of our favorite spots to eat, especially for breakfast, is at the cafe of Hotel Ecliipse. The waiter that seemed to be there all the time, is the best - super friendly and provides great service!
The second week of our stay, we had two of our couple friends join us, which was so fun! We did more activites that week, like going to Tulum (the Mayan ruins) and Xel-ha. We even parasailed 400 feet above the Caribbean Ocean - truly beautiful!
Does it get any more relaxed than this?!
